Thomas Friedman is the Time's Chief Diplomatic Correspondent. At the Times, Mr. Friedman has covered the end of the cold war, US domestic politics, international economics and foreign trade, in addition to being Chief White House correspondent. Working for the New York Times since 1979, he has been Beirut Bureau Chief, Israel Bureau Chief, where he was awarded a Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship to write a book about his reflections on the Middle East.
Thomas Friedman graduated from Brandeis University with a Bachelor’s degree in Mediterranean Studies. He attended St. Antony's College, Oxford University, on a Marshall Scholarship and in 1978, he received a Masters degree in Modern Middle East Studies from Oxford University.
